GCSE (9-1) Business Studies
GCSE Business Studies (Legacy specification: Current Year 11 only)
The Physical Education Department has been awarded ‘SPORTSMARK GOLD’ for the balance and range of activities offered.

At Key Stage 3
PE is delivered in a ‘mixed’ gender setting for most activities. Pupils are taught all aspects of the PE National Curriculum including team activities, swimming, dance, athletics, gymnastics and outdoor and adventurous activities. All year 7 pupils attend an overnight camp with associated outdoor pursuits.
At Key Stage 4
Pupils will follow one of the following pathways for GCSE PE, BTEC Sport or passport to Fitness. The school has a tradition of developing the pupils’ skills and channelling them into their ideal activity by links with local sports clubs.
We believe in ‘sport for all’ and offer a wide range of activities. As well as inter-house competitions, the pupils have the opportunity to represent the school in most team games. Sportsday is also an annual event for all pupils in year 7, 8 and 9. Pupils involved in dance are given the opportunity to represent the school in local competitions as well as in our own talent and musical shows.
The Duke of Edinburgh Award is offered to Key Stage 4 pupils at Bronze & Silver Level.

How will they be assessed?
Edexcel 9-1 GCSE
Year 10: End of topic tests (mid-year progress checks) and a mock examination in June
Year 11: End of topic tests (mid-year progress checks) and two formal Summer examinations (50% per paper)
Paper 1: Investigating small business. 1hr 30 mins (90 marks). 50% of overall grade.
Paper 2: Building a business. 1hr 30 mins (90 marks). 50% of overall grade.
Legacy A*-G GCSE (Current Year 11 only)
Unit 1: Introduction to Small Business. 45 mins (40 marks). 25% of overall grade.
Unit 2 Investigating Small Business. Controlled Assessment task, completed and marked internally (40 marks). 25% of overall grade.
Unit 3 Building a Business. 1hr 30mins (90 marks). 50% of overall grade.
