Online Safety: “Screen Addiction”

As part of the #WakeUpWednesday campaign and Mental Health Awareness Week,  the National Online Safety Team (NOS) have created a FREE guide for schools to share regarding “Screen Addiction” – an issue which is affecting young people across the globe. The guide informs parents about the issues associated with smartphone and screen addiction amongst children and how they can help to control the associated risks and stop their children becoming ‘Screen Zombies’. Please access the free guide for parents here: https://twitter.com/natonlinesafety/status/996772687132446721

Year 9 PSHE Programme: Tapestry

“Tapestry” is a theatre production designed to give pupils a safe space to discuss sensitive and controversial questions about how and why young people can get drawn into extremist ideologies. The play is interactive, with the action stopping at intervals so that pupils can talk to the characters in the play and ask them questions or give them advice. This production addresses the five fundamental British Values of democracy , rule of law, tolerance of different cultures and religions, mutual respect and individual liberty and is part of the school’s response to the “Prevent” strategy. For more information about Tapestry, follow the weblink below:

Work Experience: Year 10

If your Year 10 child has not yet confirmed their Work Experience, please support them by contacting employers as Work Experience starts 16th July and places must be confirmed by 29th March. For more information, contact Miss Homer or click on “pupils” and read the “Work Experience” section.

CONGRATULATIONS

Year 11 Leavers

Congratulations to our Year 11 leavers who performed superbly in this summer’s GCSE exams. We are delighted that 67% of our pupils gained a good (9-4) pass in both English and Maths and that 45% gained a strong (9-5) pass in both English and Maths. 27 pupils also managed to gain an average of an A grade or better in their best 8 subjects. Our school P8 score is +0.03, above the national average of -0.03 for state-funded schools. Good luck to all of you in your next steps after Hall Green School.
