What is a Young Carer?
A young carer is someone aged 5 to 18 who cares for a friend or family member, who cannot cope without their support due to:
- Illness,
- Mental health needs, or
- Substance dependency.
Siblings of a child with a significant mental or physical illness (Sibs)
The sibling of a child with a significant mental or physical illness is referred to as a sibling carer. They are the brothers or sisters of someone with a lifelong disability or illness.
If you believe you are a Sib and/or Young Carer:
- Let your form tutor, teacher or Head of Year know.
- Visit the Support Base and a have a chat with Mrs Daly.
- Visit the Welfare Office and have a chat with Mrs Porter or Mrs Smith.
